The MRC Integrative Epidemiology Unit (IEU) is seeking a talented research associate or senior research associate in Biostatistics and Causal Inference. The successful candidate will join the vibrant interdisciplinary research environment in the MRC Integrative Epidemiology Unit (IEU) at the University of Bristol.

The post holder will work closely with Dr Jack Bowden within IEU methodological research programme 2, which centres on the development of robust methods for Mendelian randomization (MR). Major areas of focus for this programme are;
• MR with summarized data
• Detecting and adjusting for pleiotropy in MR
• Developing MR methods for time-to-event and binary outcomes
• Accounting for selection bias in MR analysis
• Bayesian approaches to MR
• Developing software and graphical tools to visualise, analyse and interpret MR results.
The post holder will have the opportunity to develop their own research portfolio within the programme, contribute to teaching and postgraduate training and will be supported in their career progression.
Who we are looking for:
The ideal candidate will possess a PhD in Biostatistics, with experience in developing causal inference methods being highly desirable, but not essential. Candidates with a background in epidemiology, statistical genetics and evidence synthesis will also be considered. Candidates must demonstrate a willingness to engage with applied scientists in the development and dissemination of new methodology.
The successful applicant will be based within the MRC Integrative Epidemiology Unit (IEU) within the Bristol Medical School, at the University of Bristol.
