Hello,
Thank you Jane for setting up this list! I'm a PhD student in Human Geography at the University of Bristol, and I'm currently awaiting my viva. My research looks at faith-based social again and the question of how volunteers persist in responding to food poverty. To do this I established and ran a project through the national charity MakeLunch that responds to children's food poverty in the school holidays.
Similar to Jane, I'm keen for the list to be used for support and resource sharing.
Best wishes,
Stephanie

Subject: Welcome and introductions
Hello everyone and welcome!
I set this list serv up to help create a community of "new" voluntary sector researchers. It's been great to have had such a great initial response.
I thought it would be helpful to introduce ourselves (and also test that the list actually works...). Please join the conversation and just tell us a little bit about yourself and your research; it would also be helpful to hear what you'd like to get out of the list serv.
So I'll introduce myself... I'm a third-year part-time student at the University of Glasgow. I've worked in the third sector all my life and am thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to take time to reflect on the sector's relationship with the state through PhD research. In particular I'm interested in what the impact is of third sector intermediary bodies participating in local planning processes in Scotland. In particular I'm looking at what the sector's participation has on its independence from the state and also in how it represents the third sector. I'm deep in data analysis right now and finding it incredibly interesting.
In terms of this list serv - it'd be great if we can use it to support one another as well as to share information and resources.
Thanks everyone and I look forward to getting a conversation going.
Jane
