Thanks Jill and Sheila. I suppose, Jill, it came from the tampering fiasco
somewhere in my mind. Not sure that feign was the write word, settled for
feint in my second version this afternoon. Body dishonesty, Sheila, is the
crux of it but I’m not sure this warrants the title. I want it to lead to
that.
No stomach for playing sport
Not willing or able
to do what is required
First noticed this
around ten years old
trying to tackle from behind
an eight year old in the backyard
who scooped down
on the run
made as if
to pick up the footy
Hands nowhere near it
when I pinned his arms
He bellowed in outrage
How did he do that
Holding the man
it used to be called
Racquet games too
require a big swing
then looking like you’re
going to plant that sucker
deep in the backhand court
before adjusting
and plonking it short
disguising the shot
the object being
to feint
deceive your opponent
physically lie
Skills are handy
and stamina
strength and agility
but deception is key
Confidence, timing
but ultimately
you must be capable
again and again
of body
dishonesty
which I can’t
sustain
