We are pleased to announce that
THE TED SLADE AWARD FOR SERVICE TO POETRY 2018
IS AWARDED TO
copland smith and Dave Tarrant
Manky Poets - https://www.facebook.com/groups/manky.poets/about/

Jim Bennett said “For forty years Manchester has had an outstanding monthly night of poetry in the form first of South Manchester Poetry Group, then Manchester Poets and later as Manky Poets. This famous open floor for poetry has attracted some of the outstanding poets of our day and encouraged local poets to take their first steps toward performance. In this the fortieth year of its existence it is a privilege to award the Ted Slade Award to two outstanding men whose contribution to that night cannot be understated. Dave Tarrant started the South Manchester Poetry Group in 1978 and this was taken over by copland smith in 2001 so it seems very appropriate that they should share this year’s award for services to poetry with the hope that this wonderful night of poetry continues to serve the best of poetry to Manchester and the North West for many years to come.”
