Abstract
What is Wales' history and heritage of science? There are many ways of writing the history of science. After considering the histories of specific disciplines, which are a common and fundamental form of history, I will discuss the general nature of national and local histories of science. Then I will examine the state of the history of science in Wales - its scholarship, role in school education, and its place in public consciousness - and make some proposals for developing its future. To illustrate I will look at the science of Richard Price and William Robert Grove, among many.
