Hi,
I am interested in the wide and varied subject of sustainability and the over use of plastics in the provision of healthcare.
I am looking at the use of plastic cord clamps:
The company state that they are made of ‘medical grade plastic’. I would like to ask if anyone has looked into how biodegradable they are.
This is in comparison to the Muka Cord, traditionally used by Aotearoa Maori people of New Zealand:
Muka:
- has antibacterial properties
- assists with fast cord drying
- is a traditional Maori tradition
- supports our environment
- is soft against babies skin
- Aotearoa Muka Flax
I also wondered if anyone has a definition for ‘medical grade plastic’.
Many thanks for your thoughts
Cheers
