A FREE WORKSHOPon Effective Public & Community Involvement in Research
21st March2018 Pyramid and Parr Hall, Warrington 1-3pm
The Collaboration for Applied Health Research andCare North West Coast (CLAHRC NWC) and School of Public Health Research (SPHR) embracesthe principles of public involvement by including patients, service users,carers and communities of interest across all their work. Public involvementenhances the quality of research. It can transform the quality of health andsocial care and the conditions in which people live. This workshop presentslearning from research and practice conducted in these two programmes.
Ensuring a fruitful partnershipbetween researchers and members of the public has its rewards but it also comeswith challenges. CLAHRC NWC is evaluating what works to support publicinvolvement and to understand the impact it can have on practice. The SPHRCommunities in Control study evaluated the involvement of residents in 150areas in England to improve their neighbourhoods and decided how resources werespent in their area.
Thisworkshop will:
· Illustrate the positive effects ofpublic involvement ,empowerment and control in research
· Consider public involvement on theimpact on health inequalities
· Highlight good practice and challengesin public involvement in research
· Share preliminary findings of the publicinvolvement evaluation undertaken by CLAHRC
