Dear colleagues,
Together with Aurora Metro Publishing and Tara Arts, on April 26-27th, Goldsmiths is organizing the conference "Sight/Unseen: Amplifying Voices of Southeast and British East Asian Theatre Playwrights", with Day 1 (April 26th) happening at Goldsmiths (LG02) and Day 2 (April 27th) in Tara Arts.
Some of the best playwrights from Southeast and East Asia are part of this conference where we will be organizing readings of their plays and discussions around the topics from the region(s) they are addressing - Joned Suryatmoko (Indonesia), Alfian Sa’at (Singapore/Malaysia), Asa Palomera (Korea/USA), Ann Lee (Malaysia), Chhon Sina (Cambodia), Lucy Sheen (China/Hong Kong/UK), Daniel York Loh (China/UK), Stephen Hoo (Malaysia/China/UK), Yang May Ooi, Joel Tan. They will be joined on the panels by academics discussing politics, policies and cultural issues surrounding their plays. Theater directors, playwrights and producers from London will be joining us for networking sessions, and we will have guests from our partnership institution from Singapore - LASALLE College of the Arts.
