As for giving away your trade secrets, surely the main thing they get from you is the experience of a visit to a museum. If you think they could run the session in the classroom then perhaps your session isn’t ‘museum-specific’ enough? You could always put a small print legal clause on the document – copyright, intellectual property etc.

> Many thanks for the messages regarding whether advertising your site's school offer in online publications like Plan My School Trip<https://www.planmyschooltrip.co.uk/> and UK School Trips<https://www.ukschooltrips.co.uk/> is worthwhile. The answers were very much a resounding, "Meh." Responses ranged from those who were unsure, like myself, (it can be difficult to measure the success of something like this) to those who could definitively say it made no difference to the number of bookings. Based on the responses, I'm going to give these publications a miss and save this part of the budget for some in house promotion. Thanks again all! Best wishes Rebecca

You can now search for training, events and resources in the sector, all of which we will continue to grow with time. We hope the fresh new look will allow you to find the information you need more quickly and easily. With our new training and events calendar, you can search for relevant training and events happening near you, and even advertise training or events that would interest other members and users - a basic listing is free!

Our searchable resources section will signpost you to useful resources designed for museum and heritage education professionals. We will be working on expanding and growing our resources section and we're on the lookout for free, high quality resources to feature - so if you have one in mind, do get in touch!

This is why we've created, with the help of Sheila McGregor, a whole new section on the value of heritage education. It is there to be used to help evidence and make the case for the important work that our workforce does. We will continue to work and improve on this resource, and plan to create a downloadable document that can be shared.

We're running an immersive theatrical performance for families, uncovering the secrets of ancient Egypt and Sir John Soane's Museum with Giovanni Belzoni, the famed 18th century Italian circus strongman, turned archaeologist and explorer. We've transformed our education centre into a circus tent and our art room into an Egyptian cave....and we hope that you'll be able to join us!

>
> Belong Heritage Gallery - Newcastle-Under-Lyme
>
>
>
> Belong Limited is currently involved in a HLF funded project to restore and
> refurbish one of Newcastle-under-LymeÂ’s oldest buildings, dating back to the
> 17th century, into a heritage gallery.
>
>
>
> Known locally as Maxims, an iconic nightclub in the 1980s and 1990s, the
> building has enjoyed a rich and varied history over the best part of four
> centuries. In the early 18th century, it was Newcastle’s first – and it is
> believed only – pottery. In the decades that followed, it was home to
> tradesmen including a bellowsmaker, currier and rope maker. From the late
> 19th century and throughout much of the 20th century, it was a much loved
> public house – initially The Roper’s Arms and then the Old Pomona Inn. It
> also served as an annex to the neighbouring school, St MaryÂ’s, and as a
> social hall for the Polish community before it went on to the become The
> Placemate nightclub and then Maxims. It fell into disrepair when the
> nightclub closed in 2006 and was left languishing for many years.
>
>
>
> Belong Limited proposed to convert the building into the Belong Heritage
> Gallery, within the wider Belong Newcastle-under-Lyme care village,
> offering a range of services and a venue available to all to maximise the
> opportunities for integration and learning about heritage within the local
> community. The project secured a grant of £1.8million from the Heritage
> Lottery Fund and started in 2015. The Heritage Gallery opens as part of the
> wider care village on 9th April 2018.
>
> Belong is now looking for an external evaluation consultant to measure the
> success of the project through its delivery and from opening in April 2018
> against the intended outcomes and to identify lessons that can be learned to
> continually improve the outcomes. The main tasks are collecting and
> collating data and writing a final report to satisfy the Heritage Lottery
> Fund (HLF ) requirements.
>
>
>
> Some of the evaluation work can be effectively handled in house but we are
> looking to involve an independent person to undertake the following tasks:
>
> - Review the project delivery and activities against the HLF
> application and the outputs intended.
>
> - Further develop the internal evaluation framework for capturing
> the on-going evidence of success and outcomes.
>
> - Provide advice around improvements to the project to enhance the
> outcomes achieved so far.
>
> - Offer support and reflection to the project team to ensure they
> understand the purpose of evaluation and are confident in carrying out as
> required.
>
> - Interview key stakeholders to measure success from different
> perspectives.
>
> - Review the organisation benefits achieved and lessons learned a
> result of this project (commercial / heritage integration).
>
> - Offer objectivity and challenge from an external perspective.
>
> - Produce a draft and then final evaluation report on the project
> to meet HLF requirements.
>
> HLFÂ’s evaluation guidance is available at:
>
>
>
> The methodology and reporting must include both quantitative and qualitative
> measures of success.
>
>
>
> The total budget for the external evaluation is £5000 (including VAT).
>
>
>
> The evaluation period will be 3 months from Mid April to Mid July. With a
> draft report developed for internal and HLF feedback by 17th August and a
> final report to be submitted by 3rd September.
>
>
>
> If you are interested in this work please provide the following information:
>
> - The way you will approach the work.
>
> - Details of the tasks that will be undertaken and by whom.
>
> - Experience of similar work and appropriate examples within a
> heritage setting.
>
> - Experience of working with different stakeholders.
>
> - A proposed timetable of your work including appropriate
> milestones and dates.
>
> - Costings to carry out the evaluation including a daily rate and
> work plan and any other associated costs.
>
> The contract will be awarded on the basis of the most economically
> advantageous tender as determined by scoring against quality and price. The
> quality to price ratio is 70:30. Scores for quality will depend on the
> experience of the team proposed and an assessment of the quality of the
> approach proposed. Scores for price will be based on the overall price and
> amount of time allocated to project.
