The Brain Behavior Laboratory (BBL) at the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) is now accepting applications for a full-time post-doctoral fellow to work on multimodal neuroimaging studies of motivation led by PI Dan Wolf M.D.PhD. The BBL studies brain-behavior relationships in development and psychopathology. The anticipated research focus for this position will be to use quantitative neuroeconomic and machine learning methods to understand extrinsic and intrinsic motivation processing abnormalities in those with psychotic or mood disorders, as well as adolescents and young adults at risk for these disorders. Data will be available from both completed cross-sectional studies and ongoing longitudinal studies. The applicant will also participate in design and conduct of pharmacological imaging studies seeking to modulate motivation circuitry. Additional roles include active participation in project management activities including the administration of research projects and grant-writing, as well as teaching and supervision of students.
The position will involve working as part of a highly-interdisciplinary research team, with leaders including Dr. Ted Satterthwaite (brain development and multimodal imaging), Dr. Joseph Kable (Neuroeconomics), Dr. Christos Davatzikos (multivariate pattern analysis), Dr. Monica Calkins (longitudinal assessment of psychopathology), and Dr. Taki Shinohara (imaging statistics). To work effectively in this highly collaborative environment, the applicant must have superior communication, language, and writing skills. The applicant must have completed their Ph.D. (or equivalent advanced degree) in neuroscience, engineering, psychology, or statistics with an established record of high productivity. The applicant must have expertise in the design and analysis of functional neuroimaging studies. Expertise in model-based fMRI analysis, neuroimaging software (e.g., FSL, ANTs, AFNI), statistical packages (e.g., R, Matlab), and scripting languages (e.g., bash) is highly desirable.
An applicant must certify that he/she has received his/her degree before the appointment is processed and must be eligible for employment in the US (citizenship or appropriate visa).
