Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the conference organizing committee, I would like to invite you to register for CAPAL18: Community, Diversity, and Education: Academic Librarianship in Challenging Times. Held in conjunction with Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences 2018, the fifth annual conference of the Canadian Association of Professional Academic Librarians will be held at the University of Regina in Regina, Saskatchewan.
We are excited to introduce two keynote speakers for the conference. Jane Schmidt, a librarian at Ryerson University, has research interests in community-led service and examining literary philanthropy through an anti-colonial lens. Maha Kumaran is a librarian at the University of Saskatchewan, and her research interests lie in various aspects of visible minorities and librarianship in Canada.
Please visit the conference website for our preliminary program: http://conference.capalibrarians.org/main
The CAPAL18 pre-conference workshop is on the topic “Ally-ship in Libraries in an Era of Reconciliation”. Facilitators Dr. Verna St. Denis and Dr. Sheelah McLean will lead an interactive session that explores the history of racialized inequality between Indigenous peoples and white settler society in Canada. Additional information can be found at: http://conference.capalibrarians.org/preconference-workshop/
Registration for CAPAL18 is now open, and Congress early bird pricing lasts until March 31st, 2018. Register here: https://www.congress2018.ca/associations/304
