Transnational Relations, Ageing and Care Ethics (TRACE)
The Asia Research Institute (ARI), National University of Singapore (NUS), invites applications for ONE full-time Postdoctoral Fellowship
Successful applicants are expected to commence duties at NUS in June 2018, or as soon as possible thereafter.
The successful applicant will undertake research connected to the Ministry of Education Tier 2 funded research project titled, ‘Transnational Relations, Ageing and Care Ethics’ (TRACE).
The overall project focuses on how transnational relations, ageing and care ethics extend across national borders. It considers three interrelated aspects of care circulation: (1) grandparenting migration, (2) caring for the aged and the left-behind care chains of foreign carers; and (3) retirement migration.
This advertised position is tied to research on care migration from Myanmar and the left-behind care chains of such migrants. The postdoctoral fellow will be involved in empirical research that is central to the wider research project.
Applicants will be expected to have excellent skills in doing qualitative research (e.g. ethnography and in-depth interviews). Willingness to work in a large project team is essential. Prior experience of doing research in Myanmar will be an advantage. Language skills in Burmese or a proven ability to recruit and work with translators will be useful for this job position (though not a pre-requisite).
Informal enquiries may be directed to the Principal Investigator A/P Elaine Ho ([log in to unmask]).
