Hello SPM experts!
I am pulling together data from 197 participants in 3 studies with resting state data. Each study has a different data structure. I'm trying to figure out the best way to organize the data. To be more clear, here is what I have:
Study 1: 1. session of resting state from one time point (patients & controls).
Study 2: 2 sessions of resting state data at time point 1 (T1) and 2 sessions of data at time point 2 (T2; the study also consists of patients and controls).
Some participants were scanned at T1 only, some at T2 only and some both at T1 and T2.
Study 3: 2 sessions of resting state data at T1 and T2 (patients & controls). All participants have scans for T1 and T2.
I have been using the CONN toolbox to look at these data. CONN allows me to nest the sessions within subject at each time point, so that part is accounted for. Furthermore, I have dummy variables representing 1) patients at T1, 2) patients at T2, 3) controls at T1, and controls at T2. I also have a dummy variables representing the participants in study 2, and another representing the participants in study 3 to account for the effect of study.
However, I have not been able to figure out the best way to represent the people who are both scanned at time point 1 and 2, and distinguish them from people who were only scanned once.
I also have data from a few subjects who participated in more then one study. Right now I am including each participant in only 1 study. But, if there was a similar way to represent them as participating twice, I could include all of the data.
Any thoughts about this would be very much appreciated!!
Best,
TS
