Hi,
I think one of the key time (and hassle) savers is that the balance of probability is there's someone in your organisation that specialises in public engagement or school events. Find them and partner up, there's more to organising such projects than meets the eye and you bring something valuable to the table with your expert content.
There may be more ideas for you in a pair of blogs I wrote: https://theobeereardon.com/2017/09/25/support-for-public-engagement-and-science-communication/ and https://theobeereardon.com/2017/09/25/whats-this-science-communication-and-public-engagement-stuff-all-about/.
Regards,
Helen.

Subject: [PSCI-COM] Your public engagement tips needed
Hi all
With the weighting of impact case studies set to increase from 20% to 25% for REF2021, public engagement is becoming increasingly important for academics as a means to demonstrate impact.
To support our academics, I've put together a blog about public engagement for the time poor, designed for those new to these activities as well as those looking to try something new in 2018. You can read it here:
https://medium.com/@beckieport/public-engagement-for-the-time-poor-ca4865739066
Now I'm looking for your help!
I wish to utilise the combined experience of this group by inviting comments about your experiences of engagement, and any suggestions you may have for how to fit these activities into a busy schedule.
For those with a Medium account, please do consider commenting directly on the blog (you can sign up for a free account if you are not on the platform already). Alternatively, feel free to email comments we can share to [log in to unmask]
With very best wishes,
