Dear Colleagues
BA Costume with Performance Design at AUB would like to invite colleagues to submit proposals for one-hour lecture presentations linking Costume, Scenography and Critical Theory.
Deadline for submissions : February 28th
We are seeking a range of academic and professional speakers with backgrounds in theatre, performance and film, who are interested in presenting to our second year BA students at a two day Symposium on May 17/18, 2018. We would also like to invite applications from PhD candidates.
Now in its sixth year, the Symposium seeks to offer students a range of practical, historical, political and theoretical perspectives with regard to their Costume and Scenography practice and to inspire and to prepare them for their research-based dissertation writing.
We are now seeking expressions of interest from colleagues who would be interested in speaking to our students about the important relationship between critical theory and practice.
Proposals are sought for presentations that make strong, practice-led links between critical theory approaches and Scenography, Costume Design and Costume Interpretation, with a particular focus on issues of:
Semiotics.
Gender and Sexual Identity.
Race, Ethnicity and Interculturalism.
Spaces of Performance – Site Specifics, Indoor and Outdoor performance.
Ideology and the Politics of Performance.
The Performing Body.
Audience and Spectatorship.
Ritual, Carnival and Play.
We have a small budget available to cover travel and accommodation costs for speakers.
