hi Folks
Its always the same.................we have no issues to share and then they call come along in one week!!
I have inherited a case:
I have an employee who had an allergic (skin) reaction to a UV varnish in 2015. He was wearing incorrect PPE at the time (i.e. short gaunlets instead of long) and the varnish came into contact on his forearms). His manager restricted him from any direct working with the varnish (but he does still work in the same area), and he has had no further problems.
The business has recently reviewed the control measures and have introduced head to toe PPE (for business reasons they are not able to change/get rid of the varnish), and are asking if he would be able to work with it again providing full PPE was worn
No clinical investigation was undertaken at the time and he otherwise fit and well.
Management/HR are now asking if there is any reason why he cannot work with the varnish providing all PPE is worn.
I think there was a knee jerk reaction in 2015 and further clinical investigation should have taken place, but it didn't and we need to move this forward.
Comments welcome.
Thank you
Donna
