Dear everyone,
We would like to remind you about the approaching deadline (March 1)
for submissions to the mini-symposium on “NEW WAYS OF UNDERSTANDING
MOLECULAR SPECTRA” at the 73rd International Symposium on Molecular
Spectroscopy (ISMS), Jun 18-22, 2018, in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois,
USA.

Recent years have seen a number of new and alternative approaches to
the interpretation of molecular spectra. They range very widely. At
one end, there are heavily computational methods, involving the direct
numerical solution of the molecular Schrödinger equation or the
replacement of the efforts of the spectroscopist to fit spectra to
ever sophisticated models by artificial intelligence. At the other
end, there are almost computer-free methods, such as the algebraic
approach, aiming at alternative parameterizations of the effective
molecular Hamiltonian. We would like to bring together protagonists
from these diverse fields in the hope of fostering discussion across
discipline borders. Invited Speakers: Renato Lemus (National
Autonomous University of Mexico, UNAM), Brooks Pate (University of
Virginia), Sergey Yurchenko (University College London)
With best wishes, and see you in Champaign-Urbana,
Stephan Schlemmer and Per Jensen
