italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies
Dear all,
The Dante Alighieri Society of Birmingham is pleased to invite you to the talk 'The rise of the Platform-Museum: A case study from the Dolomites' by Stefania Zardini Lacedelli.
The presentation will introduce the emergence of a new platform model in the museum context, by focusing on a particular case study in Italy. The traditional conceptualization of the museum - a physical institution devoted to the collection and display of tangible objects - has been challenged by digital revolution: contemporary museums are becoming platforms where heritage is socially constructed and people act as curators. The main traits of this new ‘Platform-Museum’ will be presented through Museo Dolom.it: a virtual museum entirely composed by digital materials co-created by students, museums and communities of the Dolomites area.
The event will take place on Wednesday 7th of February at 4.30pm, in the Muirhead Tower, room 113, University of Birmingham, B15 2TN.
All Welcome!
