Dear Colleagues,

I am happy to share an exciting opportunity for a number of Analyst Team Leader roles in the Intelligence Directorate at the Care Quality Commission (CQC) with you. We have fixed term contract positions available across three teams (more information is available here).
A key part of CQC’s strategy is to be more intelligence-driven in our regulation of health and care. We are developing plans to use more advanced analytical approaches to better understand and monitor changes in the quality of care. Our plans also include making better use of existing data sets and incorporating new data sources into the work we do in order to encourage providers to improve the quality of care for patients.
Our Analyst Team Leaders provide comprehensive insight into quality and risk in health and care. An important part of the role is providing evidence-based recommendations for CQC’s regulatory decisions through data analysis, interpretation and presentation. We do this by working in close partnership with all parts of CQC and our system partners. Our work continuously evolves to enable us to remain relevant in a changing health and care landscape.
Clinical Effectiveness Team: The main focus of the team is to define what ‘Good’ looks like from a data perspective for the 'Effective' key question of quality in Hospitals. National clinical audit data is the primary source of information to inform these decisions. It is the responsibility of the post holder to engage with national professional associations, inspectors and clinical experts to identify key metrics from each national clinical audit, and to develop the key metrics into statistical indicators. The responsibility to analyse a range of data to inform decisions about when and what to monitor and inspect plays a key part in CQC’s strategy to support quality improvement in hospitals. The preferred location is London due to external engagement but open to other geographical locations. The team manager to contact for more information is me.
Mental Health Monitoring Analytics Team: The Mental Health Monitoring Analytics team is responsible for the development and delivery of analysis of a range of national data sets to monitor the mental health, learning disability and substance misuse sectors. We are developing data driven dashboards called CQC Insight– our model to look for potential changes in quality by bringing together relevant information about a provider. Our analysis underpins decisions about when, where and what to monitor and inspect. We work with colleagues across intelligence, policy and inspection teams, and also work closely with our external partners to develop our work. We are currently also developing ways to promote cross sector working on common data sets, as well as building knowledge and expertise in sector specific datasets.
NHS Acute Inspection Analytics Team: The team provides analytical support for NHS inspections and pre-inspection activity for acute, ambulance, community, combined and specialist providers. One of our main analytical outputs is evidence appendices for inspection activity, which provide an analytical evidence base in order to support ratings that will underpin the final report. Analysts provide narrative on data and metrics, which combined with on-site findings of inspection teams, creates an evidence base. We work in conjunction with policy, inspection teams and other intelligence teams to develop these evidence appendices and provide a quality check of analytical evidence prior to publication.

About You:
We are looking for highly motivated and skilled analysts with good leadership and people management skills who can support and motivate others. You’ll have excellent quantitative and strong qualitative analytical skills and previous experience of working in an analytical role within the health and social care sector. You must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral including the ability to interpret and present complex information in an easily understood, accessible format to a wide range of audiences. You’ll be able to identify information requirements and manage data from a variety of sources using appropriate tools. Excellent Microsoft Excel skills are essential to this role; knowledge of Business Intelligence tools would also be advantageous.
You must be a highly organised individual and have the ability to plan, monitor and deliver multiple projects effectively and take personal responsibility to drive improvement.

Closing Date: 27th February at 11.45pm

Please do approach me if any of you want further information or an informal discussion about the roles.

This is an exciting time to join our teams and we look forward to receiving your application!

Kind regards
Keiko
