Special Track - Trust in FinTech
Throughout the history of human civilizations, financial transactions between individuals or groups have been underpinned by "trust". Yet, the complex multi-party interactions in distributed ledger technologies and smart contracts are often overlooked and passed on as 'trustless'. The financial industry is in a rush to adopt new technologies based on machine learning and distributed ledgers. This is to support authentication and identity management, payment methods and processing, continuous insurance, cross-border trading, regulatory compliance and so on - the FinTech revolution - with mostly emerging economies leading the process. Furthermore, the rising awareness of personal data privacy and the emergence of the personal data economy is opening a new paradigm that reshapes our very understanding of the existing financial infrastructure. The engineering of these systems must factor in trust modelling such that machine-to-machine and human-to-machine interactions are based on trust cues that are accountable and explicable. The topics of interest in this special track include
. trust, risk, and reputation in smart contracts
. smart contracts and the law
. trust in distributed consensus
. accountability, trust, and risk in machine learning decisions, e.g., authentication, continuous insurance
. privacy in distributed ledgers
. privacy and risk in personal data containers and analysis
. human-machine trust in human-centered systems, e.g., seamless payment systems
. privacy, risk, and trust in edge computing enabled infrastructures, e.g., 'fog' computing, IoTs backed by cloud backends
. privacy and financial transparency
Paper Submission
IFIPTM 2018 welcomes submissions of both full and short papers on any topic related to the IFIPTM themes of trust, security and privacy and the topics mentioned above. Submitted full papers must not exceed 16 pages in length, including bibliography and well-marked appendices; short papers must not exceed 8 pages in length. Interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary papers are encouraged and welcome. Submission will be through the EasyChair conference management system. Papers must be submitted as a single PDF file, formatted using the LNCS format as described in the Springer LNCS author instructions.
As previous editions, papers will be published by Springer under the IFIP AICT series.

Authors of selected papers will be invited to extend and improve their contributions for a special issue of the Web Intelligence journal (IOS Press).
