Hi Bryony,
I would second the suggestions that the others have made to check
power saving and the possibility of overheating. My further suggestions
are check if the tablets are shutting down completely,pointing to the
overheating issue or just the screen shutting off, pointing to the
power setting issue. It would also be worth checking that its not
just the videoplayer app that is crashing to a black screen making the
device look like its turned off. I've known people be fooled by that
sort of thing.
