The Department of Computer Science seeks a research assistant to work on the project entitled (FIREWORKS: Future wIREless community netWORKs Storage). In brief, the aim of this “feasibility study” research project is to design and develop a platform (testbed facility) for Community Network (CN) users to access ad-hoc spare capacity on Next Generation Internet (NGI).
Applicants should have experience of literature review, research design, programming and algorithms formulation and development, and networks modelling and formation. A degree in computer science or related domain and programming skills are essential to support the R&D process. Effective communication and teamwork skills are also required.
General responsibilities will include: literature review, case studies, algorithm design and development using “preferably, but not necessarily” Java programming language, network simulation, writing a comprehensive final report, presenting at events, networking and liaising with experts.
