In my opinion what goes on in the OH consultation is down to the OH nurse. I make it clear however that the friend is there for support and not to comment. I also advise that where the conversation will remain private as far as I am concerned I cannot speak for the ‘friend’. I do point out that no conversations should be repeated outside the room. I would put in my notes that a colleague friend was present but not in the report as why is that necessary ?
If however the ‘friend’ became vocal they would be asked to leave. If the employee would not continue without the colleague present I would inform management why I could not continue with the assessment.
