Jamie, I don’t think my statement about professional academics being afraid to criticise individual women for fear of being called sexist applies to you in this instance. I think you are defending Alison just to point out that I am nasty for legitimacy saying she was rude to Sean. It is really about me in your mind and not Alison.

Sean,
I’m not defending Alison to any extent, I’ve merely said it’s wrong to attack her when she’s not here. Do you too suppose that this simple principle, which as you, Tim and David too, if he were capable of reflection, surely know I’ve consistently argued mainly on other people’s behalf is a sign I’m fearful of my ‘reputation’ or my career?
Every time I have made this argument I’ve known I would become the target of trivial slander such as David has once more demonstrated, but I’ve still made it. Tim might care to recall that during that horrendous episode I also made the argument on his behalf, and effectively, only because I could see what was amounting to very unfair persecution.
For this reason, not because he was taking sides for or against anyone, Giles was right to call for the moderator to intervene.
