The 47th Annual Conference of the British Society of Gerontology will be held in Manchester, 4th - 6th July 2018. This is the premier gathering of gerontologists from a wide range of disciplines in the United Kingdom, with keynote presentations from renowned speakers, cutting edge research, and excellent networking and sponsorship opportunities. The conference theme this year is 'Ageing in an Unequal World: Shaping Environments for the 21st Century'.
The call for abstracts (oral and poster presentations) and symposia (including flagship symposia) remains open until Wednesday 24th January 2018, and we welcome proposals from academics, researchers, practitioners, educators, policy-makers, the third sector, students, and those interested in researching ageing and later life. To promote interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary perspectives of ageing, the conference will draw on abstracts from across disciplines including: ·Arts &humanities ·Social & behavioural sciences ·Health promotion & public health ·Medicine, nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy & allied health professions ·Social care ·Social policy ·Science, engineering & technology ·Architecture, built environment & design ·and other related fields.

We also have a thriving Emerging Researchers in Ageing (ERA) section, open to those relatively new to research at all, or to ageing research. ERA will hold a pre-conference event from 3rd - 4th July entitled 'Creative engAGEment: exploring strategies to maximise public involvement in ageing research' and all are welcome.
