Hi Cansu,
you should look for designer Russel Wright's book – *Guide for Easier
Living* (1950) – and another one on his and his wife's work – *Russel
Wright: creating american lifestyle* (Donald Albrecht, Robert Schonfeld and
Lindsay Stamm Shapiro, 2001).
From this last one I quote: “The prototype for the Wright's concept of
informal entertaining was the picnic because ‘everyone helps to make and
serve the meal and make the entertainment”.
And you should see also a special film on the theme is; Picnic, with Kim
Novak and William Holden, 1956.
Best,
João
