Dear Colleagues,
I would be grateful if you could bring this announcement to the attention of interested candidates.

The Chair of Molecular Physical Chemistry at the University of Bonn invites applications for
PhD Positions in the area of Time-Resolved Vibrational Spectroscopy and Photochemical Dynamics of Transition Metal Complexes.
Our goal is to understand the activation of small inert molecules by photo-excited transition metal centers and to follow their ensuing chemical reaction dynamics. To this end, we employ time-resolved techniques of optical and vibrational spectroscopy such as femtosecond-UV-pump/mid-IR probe spectroscopy or laser flash photolysis combined with Fourier-transform IR-detection.
The highly interdisciplinary tasks to be carried out within this project involve the synthesis of coordination complexes, characterization of their stationary spectra (UV/Vis, FTIR, Raman, etc.), performing ultrafast nonlinear optical experiments at our high-energy laser facility, drafting manuscripts for scientific publications, and presentation of results at scientific events.
Successful applicants may enroll in the curriculum offered by the “Bonn International Graduate School of Chemistry” (BIGS-Chemistry) of the University's graduate training excellence program.
Please submit a formal application as a single pdf-document to [log in to unmask] The file should include a statement of interest, a curriculum vitae, degree transcripts and certificates, a list of publications (if available), and the contact details of at least two academic referees (e.g. previous supervisors). Closing date for applications is February 28, 2018.
The University of Bonn is an equal-opportunity employer. The University of Bonn seeks to increase the number of female scientists in areas, in which they are underrepresented, and therefore strongly encourages qualified women to apply. The university is committed to provide a family-friendly workplace. In case of equal qualification, persons with disabilities (Schwerbehinderte) will be given preference.
