Dear Colleagues,
Happy New Year! This is a reminder that the 2018 Gordon Research Conference on Photoionization and Photodetachment will be held February 18-23 at the Hotel Galvez, Galveston, Texas, USA. We have an excellent line-up of speakers and we encourage you to make plans to attend. The program includes sessions on: xuv and x-ray nonliner optics; reactive and transient species; time-resolved core-level spectroscopy; chirality and stereochemistry; clusters and liquids; electron transfer, proton transfer, and charge separation; advances in light sources (both laboratory-based sources and facility-based synchrotrons and free-electron lasers); alternative probes of structure and dynamics; and the attosecond frontier. The full program for the Conference is available online at:
https://www.grc.org/photoionization-and-photodetachment-conference/2018/default.aspx
Some funds are still available to help subsidize graduate students and postdocs.
The application deadline for this Conference is January 21, 2018, so please act now!
Registration for the Conference can be found at:

For the first time in 2018, the Conference will be preceded by an associated Gordon Research Seminar that will be February 17 - 18 at the same location. This Seminar is both designed for and organized by young researchers (graduate students and post-docs) with the goal of providing an environment for them to interact and share their research with each other before the Conference begins. This year's Chairs are Ruaridh Forbes and Thomas Kierspel. Information about this Seminar (including registration) is available at:
https://www.grc.org/photoionization-and-photodetachment-grs-conference/2018/
There will also be some “hot topic” presentation slots available in the Conference program. These presentations will be selected from the submitted poster abstracts.
We hope to see you there!
Steve Pratt (Chair
Marc Vrakking (Vice-Chair)
