Hello,
I was wondering if any institution had finished the migration of their MyILibrary holdings to eBook Central yet. Previously ProQuest had said we could expect this in Q4 2017, but I haven't heard anything more about it for a couple of months.
At our last count, we had approximately 3k links to MIL titles in Aspire. ProQuest have said that redirects from MIL URLs to eBook Central would be live for a "limited period", which I had understood was five years, but looking back over my correspondence I cannot see that timeframe in writing anywhere.
If you've finished (or scheduled) your migration, how are you managing the updating of your Web Address URLs in your bookmark data for MIL titles? Have you put it on the back burner, or have you a plan to change the data? Would library staff do this, or would you expect academics to update the links themselves?
I am hoping that the redirects will be speedy and trouble-free, but as soon as we have the data and the new MARC records, I would prefer to update our static reading list data, so our students access to content isn't interfered with.
Previously when migrating about 6k links from our old in-house scanning solution to the DCS, we paid Talis a day's consultancy fee (if memory serves me right) to replace the links in bulk for us. We were coming close to the start of the academic year and it was not feasible to expect academic staff to update all of their own links manually in time.
Thanks,
Kevin
