Dear all,
I am looking for information on how students in your institution access specialist library support and academic skills support. I am trying to establish what process the students have to go through in order to: speak to a member of staff, book a 1-2-1, attend a drop-in session or attend a workshop.
It would be most helpful if, in your response, you could answer the following questions. I will summarise and circulate all responses.
If the library (or equivalent) service at your institution provides support to students for help with library skills and academic skills:
• Are the specialist teams who provide the library / academic skills support accessible from the front-line desk / help desk? If no, where are they located and how do students get access to them/the support they provide?
• Does your institution offer 1-2-1 appointments for library skills, academic skills or both? If yes, how are they booked? Do you have self-service bookings? What software do you use for appointment booking? Are there any limits on the number of times students can get 1-2-1 support?
• Does your institution run library / academic skills workshops? If yes, how are they booked? What software do you use for booking? What is the attendance rate like?
Many thanks,
