There’s a feature on poetic plagiary at The Argotist Online here:

It features Ira Lightman, who argues against it:

And Andy Croft, who argues for it:

I cannot comment on the quality of Rupi Kaur's poetry, mentioned by Rebecca Watts in her essay, because I have not read it. However, what I have read about Kaur, is something that I am concerned with - the issue of plagarism, allegations that she does not seem to have responded to. I seem to remember that some of you also discussed the issue - in another context - in some emails and contributions, also Poetry Salzburg Review was mentioned in this context, because we had published two poems by a poet (I think it was Ira Lightman who drew my attention to this problem) who later admitted to have plagarized many poems and got them published under his name. As regards Rupi Kaur, perhaps Rebecca Watts was kind enough not to mention this or it was simply something that she could not (or did not want to) do any research on.
