The MRC Biostatistics Unit is a leading centre of innovative biostatistics research. An opportunity has arisen for a talented biostatistician to work with Dr Steven Kiddle on modelling the relationship between survival and co-morbidities in chronic disease, e.g. chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD), chronic kidney disease (CKD) and dementia. The project will involve the secondary use of large (N > 10,000) electronic health record datasets and modelling of repeated measurements of disease progression biomarkers. Methodology will be applied to address clinical questions in collaboration with clinicians and health informaticians, this will require the post-holder to occasionally undertake research visits to London and Manchester.
The successful candidate will have a PhD (or equivalent) in statistics and experience of statistical methods for the analysis of longitudinal data and survival data and the use of statistical software such as R or Stata. Knowledge of joint modelling of longitudinal and survival data and/or landmarking for dynamic risk prediction would be desirable. Willingness to collaborate with others and an open-minded approach to problem solving are essential. The successful applicant will be supported in their career development with a range of formal courses and on-the-job training.
