Applications are invited for a Fully Funded PhD studentship on ‘Climate insecurity: Exploring how security discourses affect climate change campaigning in the UK’, University of Brighton
Project in brief:
Climate change has been named as a major security threat by a wide range of political actors, from military strategists to environmental groups. We are inviting proposals to explore the emergence of security as a central theme in climate change communication and environmental campaigning.
Using a range of qualitative methods, the research will address the possible implications of this shifting narrative of the ‘securitisation’ of climate change on climate campaigning and on policy agendas. We are particularly interested in proposals that investigate the communication strategies of non-governmental organisations and social movement groups.
Project supervisors: Prof. Julie Doyle, Dr Raphael Schlembach, Dr Aidan McGarry
Deadline for applications - 12 January 2018.
Interviews – week beginning 22 January 2018
This studentship is only available to UK students.
