A special offer for library colleagues. Through Chrysalis, I am running a course on ‘Delivering Exciting and Memorable Training’ on 24th January at Derby Conference Centre (9.30-4.30). As there are some spaces available I am able to offer this opportunity to anyone within the LIEM network at a special rate of £90 and non LIEM members at £100. Learning outcomes and a little more information below. Contact carol@chrysalisdevelopment,co.uk to book a place. Closing date for applications is 31st December 2017.
Outcomes:
Do you fear how little your learners actually remember?
Do you want to pass on information and knowledge effectively?
Do you know how to gauge the learning style of each of your learners?
If so this workshop is for you.
This is a one day workshop to help people identify what makes training enjoyable, memorable and something that people can take back into their workplaces and use with confidence.
Every individual learns differently but if we’re going to have them all in one room on training courses we need to understand them and be skilled in finding innovative and varied ways to deliver training and engage people in learning.
The workshop will cover:
Beginning with the end in mind – know what you want the training to achieve
Planning and preparation of your topic
Using presentation tools effectively – no more death by Powerpoint!
Understanding how people learn
Developing ‘brain friendly’ exercises that help people learn and retain learning most effectively
Managing challenging learners
Developing your personal action plan
By the end of the workshop participants will:
Understand how different people learn
Know how to go about setting objectives and outcomes and identify the value of their delivery
Have some clarity about how best to use PowerPoint
Have developed techniques for identifying engaging exercises and activities
Have investigated techniques to manage changing agendas and challenging participants
Have developed their own action plan for developing training programmes
The workshop includes a pre-work questionnaire on Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences and a commitment to review the learning and how it can be implemented for six months following the event.
Workshop will run from 9.30-4.30 Facilitator: Carol Brooks
Derby Conference Centre – Wednesday 24th January 2018
A previous participant said, “Thank you Carol for such an inspiring training! It was so much fun, very interactive and jam packed full of helpful tips and ideas to understand how to create a brilliant training programme. Using your methods, I have no doubt I will be able to create exciting training programmes in the future, I do not know how I would have done this easily without being on this training. Highly recommended.”
