CALL FOR PAPERS
Governance for Tomorrow: Innovation, Politics, Policy and Sustainable Development’, a Conference organized by the Department of Government, University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, seeks to reinvigorate the dialogue within Caribbean society, towards a new consensus around innovation and its involvement in the governance of critical strategic pillars which hold the key to island sustainability.
The capacity for innovation and the capacity to innovate are critical in responding to challenges of the 21st Century. To facilitate their survival in the global economy, Small Island Developing States must nurture innovation within and innovation that touches the fabric of society to engender transformation and sustainable development.
Innovation has played a critical role in economic development, influencing the growth trajectory throughout various stages of the development of states. Innovation requires new exchanges, more effective processes, products, services, business models and technologies be harnessed and made ready to propel growth and for use in government, the market and society.
International, local and regional academics from the spheres of politics, government, technology, economics, sociology and culture are invited to participate and become engaged in processes of policy development, as one of the proposed outcomes of this Conference, being a platform of multi-faceted networking and multidisciplinary engagement.
Opportunities for the publication of articles and of the Conference proceedings will enable the continuation of the dialogue and development of proposals. The Conference themes are as follows:
* Innovation: Politics & Governance of the Economy
* Innovation and the Development Agenda: Governance, Transformation and Growth for Competitiveness
* Innovation for Growth & Sustainable Development: Governance of Society, Technology, Youth and Culture
Abstracts, of no more than one page and not exceeding 300 words, should be submitted via email to:
