Dear Foteini,
If you are using SPM12 r6906 then @file_array/subsref.m should be r6804
instead of r4136 as displayed in the error message. Could you install a
clean, latest version of SPM12 (without third party toolboxes installed
as well in case one of them overshadows SPM functions) and let us know
whether you still have the error message?
