And the title had also been used previously, for a novel by
Jerrard Tickell, originally published in 1945-7. (and for one or
two other studies of actual soldiers returning - something much
discussed these days in relation to ex-soldiers suffering from
PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) - a subject which barely
gets a mention, if at all, in Carrington's book0.
