Thanks Angela! If it hasn't gone out yet, is it too late to influence the final questionnaire? (I'm assuming the version available at http://www.universitiesuk.ac.uk/policy-and-analysis/forumforresponsiblemetrics/FRRM%20-%20Paper%200104a%20-%20annex%20to%20JIF%20survey%20paper.pdf is the current version?). For example, I'm not sure why it's just focussed on the JIF when Citescore is calculated in exactly the same way and other journal metrics, applied incorrectly, can have just as bad an effect? It also lacks some key questions, particularly around Statements of Responsible Metrics and other research quality indicators. Others are quite poorly worded - I'm not sure I'd be able to answer some of them as they stand (e.g., Q6). I'm also not really sure what the point of the survey is as there is no rubric, some institutions might fear that it is trying to 'catch them out'. If this is going to be circulated to all UK HEIs it would be a great opportunity to get some comprehensive data on this important area, but to get the maximum benefit the questions would need to cover the right areas and be answerable.

Subject: Re: Forum for Responsible Metrics JIF survey - who knew?
Hi Elizabeth
I am a member of the UCL Bibliometrics Working Group so can provide a brief update on this. The timescale for this survey, which relates to responsible use of the JIF and DORA, has slipped in relation to original plans. The Responsible Metrics Forum will be working with UUK to get it launched, hopefully by the middle of November. It's anticipated the survey will be open for approximately 3 weeks. The UCL Bibliometrics Working Group are still being invited to analyse the responses and will put together a report for the Forum.
Kind regards
Angela.
