As there have been issues reported with the abstract email address, abstract submission for the MDSG AGM has been extended to 22nd November.
The Mineral Deposits Studies Group Annual General Meeting 2017-18 will be held at the Sallis Benney Lecture Theatre, Grand Parade, University of Brighton from the 3rd to 5th January 2018. Currently confirmed key note speakers include:
Dr. Hannah Hughes (Hazel Prichard Memorial lecture) - PGE and Cr in the Bushveld Intrusion.
Tim Livesey— The Cukaru Peki deposit: Discovery and development .
Dr. Stephanie Salvi - Gold in West Africa.
Prof. Dave Sherman— Metal complexation and transport by hydrothermal fluids: Molecular insights from quantum chemistry and spectroscopy .
Prof. Richard Herrington— Nickel laterites.
Prof. Karen Hudson-Edwards— Global Environmental Impacts of Mining
Jeremy Wrathall— Lithium: A New Metal From an Old Mining Area
Abstracts are welcome related to any of these topics, and to any topic within the remit of mineral deposit studies from academia or industry. We particularly welcome oral and poster presentations from research students. The abstract deadline is Friday 22nd November.
Early bird registration rates for professionals, PhD, and masters students will apply until Friday 17th November and final registration will close on Friday 8th December. Undergraduate registration will open on Monday 14th November. Registration fees include an Icebreaker Reception and a Conference Banquet in the Brighton Grand Hotel, lunches and teas on both conference days, an abstract volume, and a conference pack.
