Dear all,
It is with a heavy heart and sense of shock that I pass on still more sad news.
Kathy Marsh has informed that Liz Grugeon, who many of us knew well both
personally and through her publications and participation in conferences and
advisory committees, died last week, at the age of 77, as a result of a fall
from her wheelchair (on the way back from a class at the library).
Kathy tells me that despite her debilitating illness, Liz continued to live life
to the full right until the end, and she will be much missed.
Liz was another of those taking part at the 1998 Sheffield conference and
contributed to the resulting volume Play Today. She was a tireless advocate of
listening to children and encouraged her trainee teacher students to observe and
learn from children's language and play. She leaves a rich legacy of
publications.
Kind regards, Julia
