ResponsibilitiesThe research project "Hip Hop as a Transcultural Phenomenon. Jamaican and Mexican cultural elements in US Hip Hop (c.1970s – 1990s)“, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation and directed by Prof. Dr. Christian Büschges (Historical Institute) and Prof. Dr. Britta Sweers (Institute for Musical Science) offers two doctoral fellowships starting on the March 1, 2018.Within the project the doctoral students will work on a Ph.D. thesis dealing with the case study of New York / Kingston or Los Angeles / City of Mexico.
We offerThe three-year doctoral fellowships are located at the Historical Institute / Institute of Musical Science of the University of Bern. Doctoral students will enter the doctoral programm of Global Studies organized by the Walter Benjamin Kolleg/Center for Global Studies, which offers excellent facilities for supervision, education, and advanced vocational training.
