Dear colleagues,
Applications are invited for a band 7 Clinical Scientist in Biochemistry to join our team at Queen Alexandra Hospital in the seafront city of Portsmouth. We are lucky to be situated close to both the seaside and also beautiful countryside in the shape of the South Downs.
The QA is the largest district general in the UK with a specialist renal unit. We are very fortunate to work in a lab that is housed in a state of the art purpose built building which brings together all of the Pathology disciplines into one area and allows free flow of samples and ideas between them.
Portsmouth Hospitals Blood Sciences Department has a well-equipped and highly automated laboratory, currently using Beckman Coulter AU500 and DxI analysers for the routine biochemistry work. We also provide the regional screening programme for Fetal Anomaly and Newborn Bloodspot Screening .
We are looking for a highly motivated individual who can help us to deliver accurate and timely Biochemistry services for patients and the staff caring for them. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to authorisation of general biochemistry and endocrinology results, delivery of the regional screening services, audit, training of junior staff and to participate in a duty biochemist rota that will involve provision of clinical advice out of hours. Applicants will be expected to work towards FRCPath.
Closing date: the 13th of December
