‘Escort agency boss jailed for benefit fraud’ read a headline on page 3 of George Osborne’s Evening Standard on Wednesday, 18 October. The boss has been found guilty of fraudulently claiming £37,000 in benefits - and also ‘dodged £212,000 in tax’. So Osborne headlines benefit fraud but not the six times greater tax fraud. The ex-Chancellor of the Exchequer hasn’t changed his political construction of policy, has he?
