Thankyou! If nothing else, this conversation will prompt me to dig a bit deeper into the Nesta stats before I send off the newsletter - life's sometimes too short to see if the findings are really warranted by the figures. At the very least these long term statistical reports should say upfront whether it's following the same group over several years, and if they are representative of the sector, or self-selecting. I might have to ask Nesta direct to dig this out.
There is some useful stuff here - like the curve of how many organisations are on which social media platforms - but the thing to resist is to reduce that to a statistical competition, where, say 7% vs 9% of an artform using Flickr makes one 'better' rather than simply shaping their choices to their needs.
