Hi Christine
It’s not a meteorite!
Although what it is I am not sure, maybe something fossiliferous?
Sorry not to be majorly helpful ;-)

Hello,
I have been sent this rock to identify – see attached images. It is not magnetic.
The information that comes with it is as follows:
‘Unidentified object witnessed falling from the sky – Oakley [Hampshire] mid-eighties by my wife. It fell with a whoosh and buried itself 12 -14” into a bank. It was too hot to touch and was left to cool before being dug out’.
Can anyone help to identify it?
Many thanks
Christine
