Robert Burns - Poems, Songs and Legacy
Free 3-week online course from the University of Glasgow and FutureLearn
Starting Monday 23rd October
This free course has proven hugely popular in previous runs. Usually offered in January and July to coincide with anniversaries of the birth and death of Robert Burns, we are delighted to announce an additional offering of the course which will introduce learners of all levels to the life, works and global celebrity of Scotland's national bard.
Starting on Monday 23rd October, join experts from the Centre for Robert Burns Studies at the University of Glasgow to explore and examine poems, songs, manuscripts, and objects used to commemorate the poet. You'll learn more about some of the political and cultural influences which shaped Burns life, and the impact these had on his poetry and songs. You’ll also develop your understanding of Robert Burns’s posthumous reputation - from Burns Suppers and Burns Night through to Hogmanay, he remains globally celebrated
in a way unlike any other literary figure.
