EvoNUM 2018 – Bio-inspired algorithms for continuous parameter optimisation
Track within the EvoApplications 2018 Conference
Part of the Evo* 2018 Event
Parma, Italy, 4-6 April 2018

SELECTED EvoAPPLICATIONS PAPERS WILL BE INVITED TO SUBMIT TO A SPECIAL ISSUE OF THE GENETIC PROGRAMMING AND EVOLVABLE MACHINES (2016 Impact Factor: 1.514)
Many engineering problems of both theoretical and practical interest involve choosing the best configuration of a set of parameters to achieve a specified objective. Numerical optimisation refers to the case when these parameters take continuous real values, as opposed to combinatorial optimisation, which deals with discrete values. Examples include designing production processes for maximum efficiency, optimal parameter adjustment for controllers and many others. EvoNUM focuses on such problems.
We seek high quality papers involving the application of bio-inspired algorithms (genetic algorithms, genetic programming, evolution strategies, differential evolution, particle swarm optimization, evolutionary programming, simulated annealing... and their hybrids) to continuous optimisation problems. We also welcome cross-fertilisation between Nature-inspired algorithms and more classical numerical optimisation algorithms.
EvoNUM deals with engineering applications where continuous parameters or functions have to be optimised, in fields such as control, chemistry, agriculture, electricity, building and construction, energy, aerospace engineering, design optimisation...
The EvoNUM track within the EvoApplications Conference will be part of Evo* 2018, a joint event which will also incorporate EuroGP 2018, the 21th European Conference on Genetic Programming, EvoCOP 2018, the 18th European Conference on Evolutionary Computation in Combinatorial Optimisation, and EvoMUSART 2017, the 7th International Conference on Evolutionary and Biologically Inspired Music, Sound, Art and Design.

Please provide up to five keywords in your Abstract
This year EvoApplications is accepting two kinds of submission: full papers and short papers. Full papers require novel and complete research work and have a limit of 16 pages. Short papers should present complete research or interesting preliminary results and have a limit of 8 pages. Both types of submission will undergo the same double-blind review process and all accepted papers will be included in the LNCS proceedings. Based on reviewers' assessment, accepted full papers will be presented as full-length talks, and authors of accepted short papers will present a short talk as well as present a poster. All authors of accepted papers will be given the opportunity to further disseminate their work in poster sessions.
- All accepted papers will be published by Springer Verlag in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science series.
- The review process is double-blind. Please ensure to anonymize your submission accordingly.
- Selected papers will be invited to submit extended versions to Genetic Programming and Evolvable Machines.
__Submission deadline__
- 1 November 2017
