Hi,
you are assuming that people have searched the archive before asking a
question, and did not find what they need. This has not always been my
impression in the past. If weighing the downside of not transferring
thousands of pearls of wisdom from decades of contributions vs. the ease
of a maybe slightly better search engine (I usually find what I am
looking for in the archives) then I would strongly argue for keeping the
former instead of hoping for the latter. But that is only my opinion,
and is probably biased by my having used the admittedly old-fashioned
interface for a while now.
Cheers

The poor search engine and layout of JISCMail mean that often the same question is asked many times, so there is some chance that transferring to a site with proper search engine/layout without transferring the history from JISCMail could actually be time-saving even if some questions were to be asked again (though this time for the last time).
