The London Institute of Medical Sciences (LMS) is a world-leading biomedical research Institute based at Hammersmith Hospital that enjoys close links with partners at Imperial College and the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. LMS research is supported by core funds from the Medical Research Council and is focused on making fundamental scientific discoveries that are relevant to understanding and treating human disease.
As Science Communications Officer for the MRC London Institute of Medical Sciences you will manage content of the LMS website, intranet and social channels. You will attend LMS seminars, meetings of postdocs/PhDs, and engage with LMS group leaders to write articles and press releases about the Institute’s research, awards and events. You will liaise with MRC and Imperial press offices to promote media coverage. Your role will involve writing, editing, and organizing public engagement and educational outreach events.
You will have a science-related degree or equivalent. We expect you to demonstrate excellent communication skills, experience of science writing, web design and administration as well as social media. You will be used to delivering work to tight timelines and have experience of managing projects. Proficiency in all aspects of MS Office software and basic competence in Adobe Photoshop and InDesign are essential requirements.
