Good tidings of great joy
Listened last afternoon to some autumn poems on BBC Radio 4 (Radio 3, Radio
4 -- I swing both ways... Still blown away by a recording of Hipermestria
by Francesco Cavalli on R3. No idea what happened; it was in Italian and I
missed the intro - I assume there was one; but the music was superb
Anyway, apart from a reading of Housman's On Wenlock Edge, there was an
even more wonderful thing, news which had passed me by that Alice Oswald is
the new R4 poet in residence.
If R4 is available to you, do listen out for watch she does. I don't say
that it'll all be to your taste. But.
If you know Ms Oswald's work, you won't need this prompt
